About Our Newsletter

Thanks for your recent report request: Since you have an interest in optimizing your Social Security benefits, we thought you might like to receive our occasional newsletter. If our assumption about your continuing interest is wrong, you can easily unsubscribe by clicking on the appropriate link below.

Helpful and Infrequent: We do not plan to send out a regular newsletter; in fact, we plan to send out newsletters only when we have something important to communicate. In sending these newsletters, we aim to keep you informed about issues that might affect your choice of when to collect your Social Security retirement or spousal benefits. Additionally, we will use our newsletters to notify you of updates to our program, especially as we continue to add valuable services that can help you. In short, we hope that you will find these newsletters helpful, but we want you to know that we will not burden you with constant messages.

Changes in Social Security

Discontinued Paper Statements: This past spring, the Social Security Administration stopped sending out Social Security statements to future beneficiaries. Now, to get the most current information about the Social Security retirement benefits you have earned, you must go to http://www.ssa.gov/estimator/ or call your local Social Security office. We think the Social Security Administration erred in making this change and hope that next year it will return to its previous method of mailing out statements to future beneficiaries.

Proposed Changes to Benefit Index: You have probably heard about the debate over how to reduce the federal budget deficit. In an attempt to solve this problem, it was proposed that the Social Security Administration use a different calculation of inflation in adjusting Social Security benefits cost-of-living adjustments. Although this proposal was not adopted, we believe that it raised issues important enough to warrant our attention. After analyzing the proposal, we have concluded that although future benefits would be smaller, our advice regarding the best time to claim your benefits would remain unchanged. We will follow this debate closely and keep you posted about any developments that will affect claiming strategies.

Reports for Widow(er)s

Now Available: When we first started, we knew we wanted to produce a carefully constructed program giving you the best claiming advice possible. Therefore, we decided to progress slowly, launching our program when we had completed the single persons and married couples sections only. After many months of hard work, we are pleased to announce that we can now provide reports for widows and widowers, available today in the widow(er)s area of our site. If you know of others who would fall under this category, please tell them about our expanded service. Also, we are currently working toward producing reports for divorced individuals, and we will let you know when that service is available.

Thanks For Your Feedback

A Big Thanks: We would like to thank those of you who have given us positive feedback about our reports. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our program and better serve future Social Security beneficiaries. If you have additional comments, please email us at feedback@socialsecuritychoices.com, and let us know how we can help you more.

We also appreciate those of you who have spread the word about our service. This is vital to our success at this early stage of our business, and we are especially thankful for it.

If you found our report particularly helpful and would like to aid us in our mission to help our nation's retirees, you can express your satisfaction with Social Security Choices by making a voluntary payment for our service through our PayPal account.

In return for your contribution, we are pleased to offer free reports for future use.
