How Much Are Benefits?

Your benefits depend upon how much you paid into the Social Security system during your working lifetime. For an estimate of these benefits at full retirement age, use the SSA retirement benefit estimator, check your statement online, or call the SSA at 1-800-772-1213. You can also get this information from a recent Social Security Statement received in the mail.

Please note that the estimated retirement benefits may overstate your actual benefits if, at some point, you worked for an employer (such as a government agency) who did not withhold Social Security taxes from your salary and you receive a pension based on that work. If you think that you may fall into this category, you should read Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP). You can use the Social Security calculator to calculate your benefits. See the WEP calculator. Or you can contact the Social Security Administration (1-800-772-1213) for an estimate of your Social Security retirement benefits before you order an analysis from us.
